Recuerdos de una Memoria
I submitted this piece as part of Museo Marte's "Memorable II" illustration contest.

The submission to this piece read:

I think we have all heard the classic “Yo me acuerdo cuando…”, “En mis tiempos…” or “Tu abuelita me contaba que antes…” We as people are full of memories; not just our own but also the memories of those that came before us.

This illustration features 3 members of a family looking through a photo album full of stories from our beautiful city of San Salvador. From historical moments to places long gone and traditions that are fading, the story of our country is always changing and evolving, and this illustration means to capture all of that. The experience of talking to people in you family about the past, present, and future is something universal that everyone can relate to in one way or another, even if the stories that are being shared are different. The events referenced are things that I myself have had the opportunity of having conversations about, even if I didn’t get to experience all of them myself, and just like in the illustration, I hope that this work can start a conversation with the audience so these fragmented memories can survive the passage of time.
